What is the deductive reasoning test practice (logical reasoning)?

Deductive reasoning in the format SHL's Verify Deductive and Aon's logical reasoning test use: a few facts or rules, then which of the following must be true? with five options. Employers that send SHL tests in 2026/27 (PwC, KPMG, NatWest, Standard Chartered, Barclays) often include a deductive section, and Aon's version is common in Indian and European graduate hiring.

Three kinds of item. Statements about groups ("All the mentors are graduates. Some graduates are cyclists."), orderings ("Ben finished ahead of Dev…") and schedules ("The audit is the day after the fire drill…"). "Must be true" means true in every arrangement the facts allow. A statement that is only possible is wrong. Every group mentioned has at least one member. A few schedule items ask what could be true instead.

How this practice version works. Twelve items written for GamePrep and checked by a solver so exactly one option is right. They are not real test questions. Your answers are scored on the server, 75% accuracy and 25% speed, into a percentile against fixed reference points.

Frequently asked questions

What does "must be true" mean in a deductive reasoning test?

The statement holds in every situation the facts allow. If you can picture one arrangement that fits all the facts where the statement is false, it is not the answer, however likely it sounds.

How do I answer "Some A are B" questions quickly?

Draw two or three overlapping circles and shade only what a fact forces. "All A are B" puts A inside B; "No A are B" keeps them apart; "Some" puts at least one person in the overlap. Then test each option against the drawing.

Are these real SHL or Aon questions?

No. Every item here was generated for GamePrep and checked by a solver. They follow the public formats (facts, then five options), so you can practise the method and the pace without leaked material.
