What is the aon digitchallenge practice (fill the equation)?
A practice version of Aon's (formerly cut-e) digitChallenge.
You see only the result of an equation, such as _ + (_ × _) = 46,
and fill the blanks with digits from 1 to 9, each used once. The equations use
addition, subtraction and multiplication, and there is often more than one right
answer. It is one of the four games in Aon's smartPredict series, next to
gridChallenge, switchChallenge and motionChallenge, which employers such as P&G
use in their online assessments.
How it adapts. As in Aon's version, a right answer makes the next equation harder and a wrong one makes it easier, from two digits up to a product and two more terms. You have four minutes to answer as many as you can. Harder equations are worth more points.
What works: start with the product. Pick the factor pair that lands near the target, then fix the difference with the small digits. If the target is odd and the product is even, one of the other digits must be odd. Don't hunt for the "intended" answer: any filling that makes the equation true counts.

cut-e / Aon Assessment Solutions: The Ability Tests, Games & How to Practice
cut-e is now part of Aon, whose candidate tests are short, tightly timed ability modules (scales numerical, verbal, clx and more) plus games such as switchChallenge and gridChallenge. Here is what each test involves, why you are not expected to finish, and free practice for the cognitive skills.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Aon digitChallenge?
A timed numerical reasoning task from Aon (formerly cut-e). You are shown the result of an equation and fill the blanks with digits 1 to 9, each used once, using addition, subtraction and multiplication. It adapts: right answers make the next equation harder.
Is there only one right answer?
No. Aon states that several fillings can be correct, and any filling that makes the equation true counts. This practice version checks your digits against the result, not against a stored answer.
How long is the digitChallenge?
Aon gives 6 minutes to answer as many equations as you can. This practice version runs for 4 minutes so you can repeat it often.
