What is the situational judgement test practice (most / least effective)?

A situational judgement test (SJT) in the most / least effective format used by graduate employers that run Cappfinity or SHL assessments. Each scenario is a moment from a first job, such as a mistake you spot, a client who is unhappy or a deadline that clashes with another. You choose the most effective and the least effective of four responses.

How the answers are judged. The key here was written for GamePrep from the competencies graduate schemes commonly assess: owning mistakes, putting the client first, working with the team, escalating at the right time (not too early, not too late) and keeping to confidentiality and safety rules. After each run you see, scenario by scenario, which responses the key rates most and least effective. A real SJT is keyed to that employer's own values, so read their values page before the test.

How it is scored. Ten scenarios. The right "most" earns 2 points and the second-best earns 1; the same goes for "least" with the two worst responses. There is no speed component.

Frequently asked questions

How do I answer most / least effective SJT questions?

Pick the response that solves the problem at your level first and keeps the right people informed. The least effective is usually the one that hides a problem, breaks a rule, or passes it to someone else without trying. Two responses are often close; pick the more proportionate one.

Can you fail a situational judgement test?

Employers use a cut-off or combine the SJT with other scores. The answers are keyed to the competencies and values of the role, so reading the employer's values and graduate competency framework is the best preparation.

Are these real Cappfinity or SHL questions?

No. Every scenario here was written for GamePrep and keyed from common graduate competencies. They follow the public format so you can practise the reasoning, not memorise answers.
