What is the verbal reasoning test practice (true, false, cannot say)?

Verbal reasoning in the format SHL and Cappfinity use: read a short passage, then decide whether each statement is True, False or Cannot say using only what the passage says. Many graduate employers that dropped game batteries in 2026 now send exactly this kind of test — PwC, KPMG, NatWest, Standard Chartered and Barclays through SHL; Deloitte, HSBC and Lloyds through Cappfinity.

The rule that costs most people marks: "Cannot say" means the passage neither confirms nor contradicts the statement — even when it is true in real life. "False" needs the passage to say the opposite. Watch the qualifiers ("most", "some", "only", "since"), figures for one year applied to another, and causes the passage never states.

How this practice version works. Twelve statements across four passages written for GamePrep — not real test questions. Your answers are scored on the server, 75% accuracy and 25% speed, into a percentile against fixed reference points.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between False and Cannot say?

False means the passage states the opposite of the statement. Cannot say means the passage does not give enough information either way — even if the statement sounds likely or is true in the real world.

Which employers use verbal reasoning tests?

In the 2026/27 season, employers that name SHL (PwC, KPMG, NatWest, Standard Chartered) or run Cappfinity assessments (Deloitte, HSBC, Lloyds) include verbal or written reasoning in their online tests. Check your invitation for the exact format.

Are these real SHL questions?

No. Every passage and statement here was written for GamePrep. They follow the public format (passage, then True / False / Cannot say), so you can practise the rules and the pace without any leaked material.
